The Price of A Good Reputation - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
The Price of A Good Reputation - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career You have to be willing to pay a ransom for your good name because there are people out there skilled at giving good guys a bad name. If you have any notoriety in your community, industry, or company, what you do is carefully watched by people who like you and those who donât like you. So what? Your behavior and actions have to be âperfectâ. But âperfectâ behavior is like beauty itâs in the eye of the beholder. I hired a consulting firm in my home town. The agreed-upon fee for their project was $6,000. To my surprise, when the project was finished they billed me $9,000 saying they had done extra work for me. I had no choice but to pay the top dollar. I had to pay ransom for my good name. A reputation of not paying would be an even higher price to pay. The consulting firm would be eager to spread chatter that, âShe doesnât pay her billsâ¦.she reneges on dealsâ¦donât do businesses with her.â They wouldnât spread the word that âwe charged her 50% more than agreed uponâ¦.we surprised her with a claim of more workâ¦we were not open or square in our dealings with her.â The ill repute doesnât stay in the neighborhood either. A posting on one business ownerâs blog (for the world to see) reads, âDonât do business with M__ L__ in San Diego. He is dishonest, doesnât pay his bills, and will, hopefully, soon go out of business.â It doesnât stop there; more than one disgruntled ex-employee or ex-wife has had his or her rant repeatedly viewed on YouTube. To avoid the situation happening in the future I outline my understanding of our work agreement (even if they have also), and get written confirmation. I allow nothing nebulous or ill-defined to occur without immediate clarification and I document date, times, and content of discussions. These two rules go for work associates, partial friends and full-time friends if Iâm doing business with them. Still, with all that effort, misunderstandings will occur. I usually elect to pay some bumped-up fee to keep heads cool. Sometimes the best practice means you pay ransom for your good name.

What Do I Do If A Recruiter Isnt Getting Back To Me - Ask Me Anything IM HIRED
What Do I Do If A Recruiter Isnt Getting Back To Me - Ask Me Anything No news is good news but when does that stop being true? The wait for feedback has to be one of the most frustrating parts of the recruitment process. You did everything you could to impress throughout the interview stages but you still end up feeling helpless when youre told to just sit and wait, unsure when you will actually get feedback, that is if you get any feedback at all. But what should you do when you have waited patiently but still no feedback has been given? You are left wondering what you did wrong and why the hiring manager has suddenly disappeared to never be heard of again. But it doesnt need to be like this, you should be getting feedback after every interview even if it isnt exactly what you were hoping for you are entitled to that feedback. Ideally youd get offered the job but if you are unsuccessful at least feedback will help you make improvements for the next interview and will give you areas in which to focus your job preparation. So if you arent getting feedback openly then you need to be taking action, you need to go and get it. I am going to summarise this into three main points but if you want more depth head to Make the First Move How to Get Interview Feedback. The Interview Now the quest to get interview feedback should start well before you have spent weeks pacing back and forth and checking your voicemail hundreds of times, it should begin in the interview. At the end of the interview make sure to clarify when you can expect to hear back, whether a few days or weeks, you want to know where you stand. The Thank You Then dont just sit back and relax the work doesnt end there, you need to be writing your Thank You note the second you leave the interview. Reminding the recruiter what made you so perfect for the job and reiterating the discussion you had about when feedback could be expected. The Action Then you wait but not for too long. If you arent hearing back then you need to make the first move, you should be following up with the recruiter or hiring manager by email or phone. Be polite in giving them a gentle nudge if your deadline for feedback has passed. Follow the above steps and you will be getting feedback you can use to enhance your job search. Remember interview feedback isnt normally offered until all interviews for the job are completed so if you were the first to interview you might have a long wait on your hands but you can always still be searching during that wait.

Tips on Preparing for Professional Summary Resumes
Tips on Preparing for Professional Summary ResumesProfessional summary resumes are used in numerous corporate jobs and many more are available in the internet. These online tools are like mails that employers use to inform new hires about job vacancies and other pertinent information that they need.Professional summary resumes are essentially just the same as a standard resume except for two big differences. One, the only information that will be included in it is the name of the company the person will be working for. Two, the objective paragraph in the professional summary resume is significantly shorter than what you will find in a standard resume. With that said, how does one prepare for a summary resume? In this article, I will provide a simple guide to help you prepare for this short, yet important form of professional cover letter. You will need to decide whether or not to include the name of the company that is hiring you in your summary resume. This may be a critical factor fo r getting hired at the company and possibly even for a raise or promotion. Be sure to include the name of the company that you are applying to in your summary resume, even if it is the name of a separate entity.A professional summary resume should include your personal details. Personal details include the last names of the person who has interviewed you, their contact details, your employment history, educational history, etc. For example, if you are applying for a position with an accounting firm, include the last name of the candidate who interviewed you, the full address, phone number, and email of the candidate. Do not include personal details about yourself, such as social security number or other personal information, in a summary resume. You will also want to include a description of the position you are applying for in your summary resumes. The position description will include the title of the position, the position requirements, the skills required, the work place of thepo sition, and the projected starting date.Be sure to provide some information on how the employer can contact you regarding the job you are applying for in your summary resumes. Provide contact information, including your email, and send your summary resume in a professional, sealed envelope. Do not include your contact information in your summary resume unless the employer requires it.
