What Do I Do If A Recruiter Isnt Getting Back To Me - Ask Me Anything IM HIRED
What Do I Do If A Recruiter Isnt Getting Back To Me - Ask Me Anything No news is good news but when does that stop being true? The wait for feedback has to be one of the most frustrating parts of the recruitment process. You did everything you could to impress throughout the interview stages but you still end up feeling helpless when youre told to just sit and wait, unsure when you will actually get feedback, that is if you get any feedback at all. But what should you do when you have waited patiently but still no feedback has been given? You are left wondering what you did wrong and why the hiring manager has suddenly disappeared to never be heard of again. But it doesnt need to be like this, you should be getting feedback after every interview even if it isnt exactly what you were hoping for you are entitled to that feedback. Ideally youd get offered the job but if you are unsuccessful at least feedback will help you make improvements for the next interview and will give you areas in which to focus your job preparation. So if you arent getting feedback openly then you need to be taking action, you need to go and get it. I am going to summarise this into three main points but if you want more depth head to Make the First Move How to Get Interview Feedback. The Interview Now the quest to get interview feedback should start well before you have spent weeks pacing back and forth and checking your voicemail hundreds of times, it should begin in the interview. At the end of the interview make sure to clarify when you can expect to hear back, whether a few days or weeks, you want to know where you stand. The Thank You Then dont just sit back and relax the work doesnt end there, you need to be writing your Thank You note the second you leave the interview. Reminding the recruiter what made you so perfect for the job and reiterating the discussion you had about when feedback could be expected. The Action Then you wait but not for too long. If you arent hearing back then you need to make the first move, you should be following up with the recruiter or hiring manager by email or phone. Be polite in giving them a gentle nudge if your deadline for feedback has passed. Follow the above steps and you will be getting feedback you can use to enhance your job search. Remember interview feedback isnt normally offered until all interviews for the job are completed so if you were the first to interview you might have a long wait on your hands but you can always still be searching during that wait.
